Chairman of Milko Company resigns

 


Renuka Dushyantha Perera, who served as the chairman of Milko, has decided to resign from today (18).


 In a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, he has mentioned that although he has one more month to work in this position, he has decided to resign as he is working together with a local and Indian company to privatize Milko.


 For the past few weeks, MILCO employees have been protesting demanding Renuka Perera to resign from her post.


 The employees alleged that Milko, which was making profits, turned loss-making during Renuka Perera's tenure.

A Sri Lankan girl has succeeded in winning a reality show which was aired on a television channel in India.

The final competition of this little champs 2023 tournament organized by the Indian television channel Zee Tamil was held today.

Kilmisha, a Sri Lankan girl who participated in the program from Jaffna area, has won the crown of the tournament.

Kilmisha, who won the crown of the tournament, will also get a prize money of 10 lakh Indian rupees.

2 years from Shammi to Upul Tharanga's selection committee


The Sri Lanka Cricket Board officially announced the new selection committee of Sri Lanka Cricket recently.

The cricket selection committee chaired by Upul Tharanga includes Ajantha Mendis, Tharanga Paranavithana, Indika de Seram and Dil Ruwan Perera as other members.

Sri Lanka Cricket has taken steps to give a two-year contract to the new cricket selection committee.

Accordingly, this new selection committee will start its work from the Zimbabwe team's tour to Sri Lanka next month.

Eggs for 35 rupees from today! Here are the next available locations!


Steps have been taken to release 10 million imported eggs to the market from today (18).

The State Miscellaneous Statutory Corporation stated that the relevant stock of eggs with the approval of the Department of Animal Production and Health is to be distributed to Lanka Sathosa Institute from today.

Accordingly, people will be able to buy eggs during the festive season through the Sathosa network of stores without any shortage.

In the meantime, another 15 million imported eggs are to be brought to Sri Lanka and steps will be taken to send those stocks for quality inspection as soon as possible.

After the relevant tests, the eggs are to be distributed from the Sathosa chain of stores as well as to some selected supermarkets.

Good news for small and medium businesses

 


Minister of State Shehan Semasinghe says that the institution for providing guarantees for small and medium enterprises will start in January under the Ministry of Finance.


 Issuing an announcement, the minister says that an amount of 50 million US dollars has been allocated for that purpose.


 The announcement further states that at a time when the crisis is emerging, the government considers the upliftment of small and medium enterprises, which contribute more than 50% of the country's economy, to be a priority.


 The minister also said that the government will take steps to use the over 30 billion rupees allocated for the upliftment of the relevant enterprises in the 2024 budget for loan schemes.


 In the meantime, the minister has also indicated in his announcement that 11 different relief schemes, including the provision of working capital, have been implemented for the relevant enterprises since the Covid epidemic.

The selectors choose three new captains for the Test, ODI and T20 teams


The new selection committee chaired by Upul Tharanga has decided to appoint new captains for the three Sri Lanka Test, ODI and T20 teams.

According to cricket sources, the selection committee has decided to give Test captaincy to Dhananjaya de Silva and its vice-captaincy to Kusal Mendis.

It is reported that Kusal Mendis will be appointed as the captain of the ODI team and Charit as the vice-captain.

The selection committee has focused on giving the captaincy of Twenty20 to Vanindu Hasaranga and the vice-captaincy of the 2020 team is going to be given to Charith Sasankata.

The selection committee chaired by Upul Tharanga is scheduled to meet again on Monday to make a final decision on the Sri Lanka squad and the team leadership for the Sri Lanka-Zimbabwe series starting in January.

Two powerful politicians are about to retire from politics


 According to political sources, the person who becomes the leader of the Ilangei Tamil Arusukachchi Party will be the next leader of the Tamil National Alliance.

Acting as the leader of the Tamil National Alliance.  It is stated that the Tamil Arushukachchi leader will be the leader of the alliance with Mr. Sampanthan's announcement that he will retire from party leadership and politics.

However, it is reported that a problematic situation has arisen with the submission of 03 applications to the Tamil Arusukachchi leadership.

M. for Tamil Arusu leadership.  A Sumanthiran and S.  Mr. Sreedharan and Mr. Yogeswaran, the former Member of Parliament of the Eastern Province, have also submitted their nominations.

However, the new leader will be elected at the party's central committee meeting in Vavuniya next January.
